The job market in technology and software development is changing at an incredible speed, and people are constantly rethinking what they expect from their work. A good salary or a nice job title is no longer enough. With this in mind, at Vangwe we launched a series of weekly LinkedIn polls focused on tech hiring and employee experience. We wanted to hear and learn about today's work reality directly from the people: what they consider when switching IT jobs, what motivates them to stay, what makes them feel challenged and more engaged. The idea was simple: to open up the conversation and learn. This is what we found out:

Our analysis

These results aren’t surprising, but they do confirm one reality: in such a rapidly changing environment, people look for work experiences that put the human element at the center. Flexibility and work-life balance are no longer “extra” perks: they are fundamental when deciding whether to stay at a job or not. A transparent and agile IT hiring process isn’t a differentiator; it’s an expectation. Feeling valued, recognized, and heard carries more weight than any other factor in sustaining daily engagement and motivation.

So, how can companies attract and retain top IT talent? At Vangwe, we’ve always known that the real challenge is not settling for the status quo.
